The bearded iris is one of those flowers that almost looks fake even when it's real — the ruffling is so extreme, the colours so layered, that making it in paper feels almost natural. This one is in deep red with an orange beard running through the centre, which gives it that bit of warmth against all the intensity.
Each petal is hand-cut and shaped from Italian crepe paper. The ruffling is done by hand — you can't rush it. Comes with a small bud on the stem too, which I think finishes it properly.
